PINES isn't simply another
outdoor adventure brand.
We mean it when we say 'Don't quit adventuring.'
The world hardly needs more cool looking gear. If you ask us, it's already too hard to choose which new puffer or backpack we're going to get for the season. But while we love all those other brands & their missions, none of them
were speaking about ours.
So we decided we would.
It's tough to think about...
But every day, whether you're on a bus or a plane, work or school, sitting in a crowded restaurant, or just walking down the street, you're probably near someone who is struggling and believes that things are hopeless. Often, that struggle and the pain that
comes with it are invisible.
I've had some of those really brutal and desperate moments of my own, and I have been lucky to be surrounded by people who either sensed something was up, or to whom I could confide. But many folks aren't.

Many folks become accustomed to the idea that hurting themselves is an answer to escaping the exhaustion and grind of life. Whether that grind comes from a mental health challenge, addiction, trauma, or something else; there is no reason for anyone enduring it to feel like they have to do it alone. You don't.
Our Commitment
When things are stressful, I often find myself drawn to trees. In Japan, the concept of Shinrin-yoku (or Forest Bathing) is a popular healing recommendation for overcoming mental and emotional struggles. And of all the species of trees in our wonderful forests and national parks (here in the US), I have often found myself relaxing to the swaying of the tallest pines I can find.

Pine trees are significant because they simply fight so hard to survive.
​
I am convinced that if we can create a visible community of people who are doing the same, we can make a difference. So from day one, a portion of profits from the sale of our apparel (and 100% of profits from The OT) will be donated to organizations who are working to prevent self-harm.
​
This work is not our specialty. We design cool looking, high quality, comfortable clothes. But we do it for a reason. A good reason. And that's why we say PINES is good gear for good reason. Here's to those who don't quit adventuring.
